Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García Hosts Roundtable to Discuss Wall Street’s Impact on Working People
United for Respect members will join other working people to discuss congressional measures to transform economy and protect workers

 

Chicago, IL — Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), leaders from United for Respect, and workers from various sectors across the economy will gather on Tuesday, November 5th at 9:00 am CT, to discuss the harmful effects of private equity and Wall Street firms on jobs and American companies. During the roundtable, Rep. García will discuss  legislative efforts he is leading to hold private equity firms accountable for factors contributing to bankruptcies, the undermining of workers’ rights, and other destabilizing employment conditions. García will also highlight the Reward Work Act, his bill to ban stock buybacks and guarantee worker representation on corporate boards.United for Respect leaders will share their stories about how job loss at Kmart, Payless and Forever 21 has affected them and how they are organizing and campaigning for an economy that works for everybody.
