RETAIL WORKERS WILL JOIN FACEBOOK, AMAZON, AND THE ACLU
IN FIRST-EVER PARTNERSHIP WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE COALITION
NATIONWIDE — Today, the artificial intelligence coalition known as The Partnership on AI to Benefit People and Society (PAI) announced a new partnership with United for Respect, a multiracial workers rights organization made up of retail workers from various companies including Walmart, Sears, and Toys R Us.
Nick Gallant, a former H&M employee and member leader with United for Respect released the following statement regarding the new partnership with PAI:
“I’m excited to be a part of this conversation with PAI. We need to have workers’ voices in shaping new technologies so they benefit, not harm, workers. As technology becomes more and more a part of our everyday lives, it’s important that workers, policymakers, and business leaders work together to shape how companies develop and deploy tech and address any effects it has on workers. From the cash register to the stockroom, the work we do matters. Our voices matter.”
This is the first time retail workers will be a part of a discussion with business leaders, policy makers, and researchers on how to better shape technology to benefit present and future jobs.
