This is what the voters want:
A record-breaking 730,000+ Michiganders signed the petition to give us a chance to protect reproductive rights this election, and more than 1500 Michigan healthcare professionals have endorsed the proposal.
We deserve to make our own decisions with our doctors – not our politicians – about our pregnancies, birth control, abortion, prenatal care, and childbirth. This proposal will affirm the fundamental right to reproductive freedom that currently hangs in the balance in Michigan.
The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade could activate a 1931 Michigan law that would make abortion illegal and could send doctors to prison for fifteen years for providing essential care like abortions.
This amendment would ensure no one is imprisoned for providing an abortion and that all Michiganders have access to reproductive freedom – no matter what happens in Washington, D.C.
Autonomy is at the core of respect. We must be able to control our own bodies and our own choices if we are ever going to build a better life for ourselves and our families.
