We’re fighting for respect at work – but what does that mean?

We want respect for what working people can bring to the table – in their stores, in the boardroom, and in the halls of Congress.

Our vision is an economy where corporations and policymakers truly recognize the humanity of the 16 million people who work low-wage retail jobs – who are predominantly women and people of color.

THIS IS THE BASIS OF THE RESPECT AGENDA:

Right to organize

Essential worker voice in decisions that impact our lives

Safe workplaces & communities

Provide living wages, severance pay, good hours

End invasive surveillance and harmful tech/automation

Comprehensive health benefits, paid family & medical leave

Tougher rules to protect workers from corporate greed

This platform will guide United for Respect’s next chapter, fueled by digital engagement and face-to-face conversations with workers in places where we can build power to drive necessary change.
